Open burning
- Apply for an open burn permit through the State of Maine
- Check the Maine wildfire danger report before burning
Outdoor burning is not allowed when the wildfire danger class is High, Very High, or Extreme.
Fire safety
- Install smoke alarms on every level of your home, inside bedrooms, and outside sleeping areas.
- Test smoke alarms monthly and replace batteries when needed.
- Make and practice a home fire escape plan twice each year.
- If a fire occurs, get out, stay out, and call for help.
